Canon has recently come out with a firmware updation for EOS-7D digital SLR camera. The firmware v1.2.2 solves AF point selection and displays those problems that occur during specific conditions and also displays the error in movie mode. This firmware also corrects wrong spellings in the Thai and Spanish language menus. You can download the firmware from the Canon’s website.
Changes in the Firmware
The following fixes have been made in the firmware version 1.2.2.
1.A phenomenon is fixed when the set aperture moves while shooting for movies using some Canon lenses in manual exposure.
2.AF point-selection behaviour of C.Fn III 7 custom function is fixed when it is set to 1.
3.While shooting in the vertical position, the AF point display for the viewfinder electronic level is fixed.
4.Missspellings in the Thai and Spanish menus for applicable products are corrected.
Version 1.2.2 firmware can be used for cameras with firmware upto Version 1.2.1. For camera with version 1.2.2 already in it, there is no need to update it with the new version. Also it is to be noted that the cameras that come with the Version 1.2.2 firmware cannot be downgraded to Version 1.1.0.
It also comes with precautions such as
- fully charged battery pack or the dedicated AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6 must be used while updating the firmware.
- power must not be shut off while firmware writing operation is on as this might disable the camera.
- during the firmware writing operation the CF card slot cover must not be opened.
- also none of the camera buttons is to be pressed while firmware writing operation is on.
