After having launched a series of Tough laptops, Panasonic has launched its first rugged digital compact camera; the Panasonic Lumix DMC FT1 Digital Camera which provides you with an option of recording in HD mode. This device performs like a camera as well as a camcorder.
Panasonic Lumix DMC FT1 12MP Digital Camera has a picture resolution of 12 mega-pixels; which helps deliver superior quality images. Its dimension is 98.3 x 63.1 x 23.0 mm and weight is 162.5 grams. The camera's built-in memory of 40MB can be increased using SD or SDHC memory cards. Images can be previewed on the camera's 2.7-inch LCD display that comes with a screen resolution of 230k pixels. It comes with a miniHDMI port, a USB slot, a video-out port and a DC input port. It works on a rechargeable battery that comes with a battery life of 340 shots. The focal length range of the FT1 is 4.9-22.8mm (28-128mm in 35mm equivalent).
The optical zoom offered by the Panasonic Lumix DMC FT1 Digital Camera is 4.6x while the digital zoom offered is 4x. The image quality is not affected while using optical zoom; however it gets adversely affected when digital zoom is used. The sharpness of the image is determined by the light sensitivity factor, in case of the FT1, the max light sensitivity offered is ISO 6400. High light sensitivity also ensures better image clarity even in dimly lit surroundings. The camera offers various scenic modes to play around with along with 5 white balance settings. This Panasonic 12MP digital camera provides you with the facility of recording movies in HD mode. The FT1 records HD movies in AVCHD Lite, that allows you to shoot excellent HD video with twice the recording time as compared to shooting in Motion JPEG mode.
