WestLicht Photographica, one of the first commercially produced camera in the world is about to be auctioned in Vienna this May. The camera was originally made at Paris in 1839 in limited numbers. For generations, it has been under private ownership in North Germany. Every detail of the camera including lens, black velvet interior, glass screen and the plaque which was signed by Daguerre, the inventor are in their actual state.
Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerr is said to be the founder of the camera, he has drawn the original plans of the camera with two written books bearing hand written notes of Daguerr which explains the details of the process. All through the world, only few of these cameras are known to exist, among which most of them are placed in museums. WestLicht Photographica is the first oldest camera been offered for sale by auction. The starting price of the camera could be Euro 200,000 while it is been estimated to raise up to Euro 500,000 – 700,000.

Pentax unveils 3 new Digital Cameras

Pentax has unveiled 3 new digital cameras of the point and shoot variety, namely, the Optio I10, H90 and E90. The Optio I10, designed like one of the film SLR cameras, features a 12.1 Megapixels image sensor, a 5x optical zoom, a 2.7 inches LCD screen and has the capability of capturing 720p resolutions HD videos at a speed of 30 frames per second. This point and shoot digital camera comes with settings such as face recognition and smile shutter, among other features as well.
Pentax's H90 point and shooter is enabled with a 12.1 Megapixels image sensor, 5x optical zoom and also 720p HD video recording. And, the other digicam, the E90, features a 10 megapixels image sensor, 3x optical zoom and also a large 2.7 inches LCD screen. All these three above mentioned digital cameras belong to the compact point and shoot category and are expected to ship in February.
