Nikon Announces Two New Zoom Lenses

Following the introduction of two new digital cameras, Nikon has now updated and introduced the latest AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR II zoom lens to be used with Nikon DX format DSLRs. The new lens is said to cover an extremely wide range of focal lengths with a compact dimension of just 77 x 96.5 mm along with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor for faster and quieter focusing. The second lens introduced is the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm F/2.8G ED VR II lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. It is said to offer better image quality in a smaller package.
The 18-200 mm lens is expected to be available in September for a price of $849 while the 70-200 mm lens is reported to hit the stores in November and is expected to cost around $2399.
Leica S2 Gets Price and Release Date

Leica has announced the price and release date for its latest S2 DSLR Camera. It has been priced at £15,996 and is set for an October release. The Leica S2 is reported to be an ultra high-end camera with a 37.5 mega-pixel sensor that is 50% larger than a normal full frame 35mm DSLR.
It is claimed to be the first camera in the new S-system from Leica. As per manufacturers, this one combines the positives of a medium format camera with the handling of a DSLR. Also a new dual shutter system with a high precision AF system and Maetro image processing engine is said to have been incorporated in this device. Leica has also provided consumers with an option to upgrade and go for the S2-P system that is stated to include a sapphire glass monitor screen and a Platinum Service support. The S2-P is expected to cost about £19,092.
The prices stated are only for the camera body, the lens are reported to cost in the range of £3,096 and £5,160.
Nikon Announces D300s and D3000 DSLRs

Nikon has introduced two new DSLR models; the entry-level D3000 for starters and the advanced D300s for professionals. The D3000 is set to replace the D40 DSLR model. The low-end D3000 is reported to include a 10.2 mega-pixel resolution, a 3-inch LCD display, continuous shooting at 3fps, a 11-point AF, a high ISO range from 100 to 1600 and finally an automatic dust reduction technology.
The advanced D300s is expected to feature a 12.3 mega-pixel resolution, a 3-inch LCD monitor, continuous shooting at 7fps, a 51-point AF system and finally support for shooting high definition video. The camera is said to be capable of shooting 720p video at the rate of 24fps. Also the D300s is said to include two memory card slots one for SD and other for CF cards.
Both the cameras are expected to be released in late August with D3000 priced at $600 and the D300s priced at $1800.
Pentax Releases Updated K-7 Firmware V1.01

Pentax has released a firmware update for its K-7 mid-level DSLR Camera. The updated firmware v1.01 is said to improve the general stability for overall performance improvement.
With the help of the updated firmware, K-7 is stated to be capable of being able to provide immediate access to flash modes, white balance, image modes and drive modes via the four-way controller. As soon as the v1.01 firmware is installed, a new custom function that determines the default behaviour of the four-way controller is said to be added. This allows a user to “Operate at AF Point SEL”. By setting the camera to “Select AF Point Preference” that various functionalities can be accessed via the four-way controller.
Ricoh Launches the GR Digital III

This month, the Ricoh President Shiro Kondon has reportedly announced the launch of their latest GR Digital III Camera that is a successor to the GR Digital II launched about 2 years ago.
It is observed to have a sturdy aesthetic build with a rich and textured black plastic casing. It is claims to have zero shutter lag and one of the best 3-inch LCD displays. With an in-built Ricoh GR Engine III image processor and a 10 mega-pixel sensor, it promises to deliver excellent quality images. Also it states of being capable of shooting five RAW images per second.
Scheduled to be released in mid-August, the Ricoh GR Digital III is expected to cost £529.99.
