Hassleblad Debuts H4D 60MP Camera
September 28, 2009
Hassleblad unveiled its new H-system medium format DSLR camera that features a whooping 60 mega-pixel resolution. This H4D, it is believed to be the first camera to have a true-off centre autofocus system based on the True Focus technology with Absolute Position Lock. This technology corrects the vertical and horizontal shift that occurs due to camera rotation around its axis.
The Hassleblad H4D camera is fitted with sensors inspired by the remote controller of Nintendo Wii, which uses gyro sensors to reproduce a player's movements in the game. These sensors accurately monitor the camera's movement after the auto-focus has been locked onto one particular point.
Two models have been revealed; the H4D-60 that features a 60MP resolution and the H4D-50 featuring a 50MP sensor. The H4D-50 is said to be replacing the H3DII-50. It is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2010 at a price of 19,995euros. The H4D-60 is expected to start shipping by November 2009 with a price tag of 28,995euros.
OneShot Camera; Shakes to Recharge
September 26, 2009
On the concept of the iPod Shuffle technology, the OneShot Camera was conceived a couple of days back. This is one digital camera that is devoid of an LCD display and does not require batteries for recharging.
The best part is that it is equipped with the face detection technology, but how this is supposed to work without an LCD display is still a secret. Also the gadget doesn't seem to have any slot for connecting storage memory cards, so the guess is that the unit probably saves pictures on its internal memory. Interestingly, this gizmo gets recharged by a single shake.
This lipstick shaped photographic gadget is so compact that one can wrap their hands around it and hide it into their fist. Pictures can be taken by pressing the top end of the device, that apparently functions as a viewfinder.
This concept has been developed by the German designer Tino Klaehne. Will this camera become a reality? Only time can tell.
Artificially Intelligent CCTV Cameras to Prevent Crimes Beforehand
September 25, 2009
“Prevention is Better than Cure”; this was probably the thought that led to the idea of developing special type of CCTV Cameras that are capable of detecting and stopping crime well in advance.
A new type of surveillance cameras capable identifying suspicious people and preventing crimes before they happen is said to be in the designing stages and is all set to be rolled out within the next five years all over the UK. Scientists claim that the device will be able to verbally warn the culprit and if necessary alert the control room or the nearest police official.
The new technology; ISIS, that is the abbreviation for Integrated Sensor Information System is reported to being developed at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies, Queen's University, Belfast. This system is apparently being designed to be compatible with the extensive CCTV Camera network already installed in railway stations, buses, streets as well as the airport.
These cameras use intelligence system to access the individuals and judge if the situation is likely to pose a major risk. If so, the control room is alerted so that the crimes can be stopped before it occurs. The ISIS possibly looks out for some factors like sudden movements, hooded tops, verbal aggression, odd behaviour etc. Microphones, metal and motion detectors may also be added to the system.
The team aims to develop a system that aids in making the train stations, airports and buses absolutely crime-free.
Arecont Vision AV3135 Dual Sensor H.264 Surveillance Camera Debuts
September 23, 2009
The surveillance camera manufacturer has announced a new camera called the AV3135, that is capable of keeping an eye on things day and night. This camera is said to be capable of delivering high resolution images during day time and low-sensitivity high quality night time images.
Apparently the camera is said to be using the H.264 technology that delivers full frame rate pictures and movie streams at various resolutions. It is stated to be equipped with two 1/2-inch CMOS sensors inside; a 3 mega-pixel colour sensor and a spate 1.3 mega-pixel black and white IR sensitive one for use in low light or extreme dark situations.
It is part of the AV100 surveillance system, which permits shooting and viewing of simultaneous streams of video. Switching between the 3 mega-pixel and the 1.3 mega-pixel one is automatic but it can also be manually done.
Pentax Unveils 12MP Digital Compacts
September 22, 2009
After having launched waterproof cameras and colourful DSLRs, it is now the turn for digital compacts. Pentax has announced two 12 mega-pixel compact digital cameras; Optio M85 and E85, that sport relatively slim bodies and are light weight.
In addition to the 12MP CCD sensor the Optio M85 is said to feature a 3x optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD screen, auto modes, 720p video shooting, face recognition, shake reduction technology probably everything a beginner needs.
