Canon introduces the new Canon PowerShot G10 14.7MP Digital Camera – 5x Optical Zoom, 3 inch PureColor LCD II Viewfinder – Black with 5x optical zoom and wide angle lens. The images captured in this black cased, compact camera are displayed in a 3” built-in TFT active matrix LCD display. Its dimensions are 10.9 x 4.6 x 7.8cms and weight is about 350grams. Anti-blur and DIGIG4 technologies are implemented in this digital camera.
Images captured can be stored using MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card or MultiMediaCardplus. The images are stored in JPEG, RAW and RAW + JPEG formats whereas digital video is stored in H.264 format. It uses a CCD type optical sensor of size 1/1.7” and supports colour images. Light sensitivity can be set according to the set values. Maximum and minimum shutter speeds of this camera are 1/4000sec and 15sec.
Exposure compensation is done in ±2EV range and in 1/3 EV steps. Programme, automatic, manual, aperture-priority and shutter-priority are the shooting modes. Metering is done in evaluative, spot AF area, centre-weighted and spot setups. Shooting is done in frame movie mode. White balance can be done automatically as well as in customised styles. Presets for white balance are Fluorescent, cloudy, tungsten light, Flash, daylight and Underwater.
Continuous shooting speed of this Canon digital camera is 1.3 frames per second and 0.7 frames per second. Special effects such as Black & White, Sepia, Neutral, Vivid and Colour Accent are provided in this camera. The effective sensor resolution of the camera is 14,700,000 pixels.
A 5x zoom lens with a focal length of 6.1mm to 30.5mm is used in this camera. It has a built in lens shield. The zoom adjustment is carried out by a motorized drive. Focus can be adjusted both manually and automatically. The macro focus ranges from 1-50cm. Its lens aperture is F/2.8-4.5. Auto focus is detected by TTL contrast with 9 focus points.
The unit features built-in flash. Various flash modes are fill-in mode, rear curtain sync, slow synchro, auto mode, flash OFF mode and built in red-eye reduction. Its effective flash range is from 0.3 to 4.6m.
Additional features of this camera are Audio recording, direct print, RGB primary colour filter, digital noise reduction, PictBridge support, histogram display, AF lock, FE lock, resizing an image and Motion Detection Technology. The self timer sets a delay of 10 sec as well as 2 sec.
The digital camera offers connectivity to USB and composite video/audio output. There is a built-in microphone that works in mono mode. Technology implemented for microphone is electret condenser. A/V cable, USB cable and neck strap are accessories that are added on. Power is supplied with the help of an external battery charger. Operating temperatures of this camera varies from 0° to 40°.
