A zoom into the main aspects of a Digital Camera

A Digital Camera clicks images in the digital file format unlike the conventional cameras which use the photographic films for image capture. Way back in 1991, the Kodak DCS-100 was the first one to be commercially launched. From that time onwards, the digital camera industry has seen many improvements and advancements till this very day. Below listed are its aspects :

Resolution : This refers to superior levels of image quality, picture display, details and sharpness. Higher the pixels, higher the resolution of the sensor. 10 MP (Megapixels) resolution is a good one though it may go up still higher for high end models.

Memory : This refers to the number of pictures that you can take before downloading on to your system. 8 MB (megabytes) memory is for starters and can go on upto 128 MB.

Flash Type : This refers to the extra light that is needed to make up for indoor shooting or low lighting conditions. Usually they are either the in-built flash or the external flash.

Burst Mode : This refers to the continuous shooting mode or in other words, RapidFire mode. With this feature, you can shoot several pictures in a continuous sequence.

Zoom : The 2 types of zoom lenses are the digital zoom lens and the optical zoom lens. Digital zoom just enlarges the picture whereas Optical zoom adds sharpness and details to the picture.

Compression : This refers to the shrinking of the photo file size. JPEG is the general usage file type.

Power Source : Though Digital Cameras are generally voracious consumers of battery power, the batteries are rechargeable . NIMH batteries and Lithium ion batteries are generally used.

Lens : The Lens determines the scene quantity that may fit into the picture. It varies between a normal range and a wide angle view. Range is generally referred to in 35 mm equivalent.

Focus and Exposure : Some models have auto focus while others have manual focus. Panorama picture features and the ISO light sensitivity is included.

LCD Screen : This screen displays an exact replica of what the photo will look like. Some advanced versions allow you to display multiple pictures simultaneously.

Self Timer : It allows the photographer time to be a part of the photo, is generally about 10 seconds.

Manual Features : Available generally in high end models, for creativity and flexibility.
